In October 1993, Proposition 301 adopted the Neighborhood Protection Ordinance, to enhance the safety and quality of life in the City of Phoenix, designing the Neighbors on Watch (N.O.W.) program. N.O.W. is a proven crime deterrent that enlists neighbors in cooperation with police to reduce crime and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods.

N.O.W. works when we use simple techniques to deter, delay and detect crime. Being aware of criminal activity can help in keeping our neighborhood safe. Promptly reporting all criminal or suspicious activity helps the police assist us in promoting a safe and healthy neighborhood.

See Something. Say Something.

Call in suspicious activity to CrimeStop at 602-262-6151.

For emergencies, call 9-1-1.

Grandview Community Action Officers:

Knowing Your Neighbors:

Some of the most effective strategies for crime prevention within a community and neighborhood are busy streets and knowing your neighbors.

One of the ways Grandview promotes knowing your neighbor is Front Yard Fridays. Each month, on the third Friday, a Grandview neighbor volunteers to host Front Yard Friday in their, you guessed it, front yard. FYF is from from 6 - 9pm, neighbors BYOB and come and go from the gathering as they can.

Meeting new neighbors that you can say hello to and spending time in front yards prevent crime.

Hosting is easy -  simply volunteer and the Grandview Neighborhood Association will provide signage, marketing, and other items you may need for hosting. If you would like to volunteer your yard for an upcoming FYF, mygrandviewphx@gmail.com

Block Watch Grant Resources

Each year, the Grandview Neighborhood Association applies for the Block Watch Grant through the City of Phoenix. This grant gives the opportunity to purchase and support crime prevention efforts in the neighborhood. To learn more about the Block Watch Grant, visit phoenix.gov. Here are a few of those purchases and supports available to you.

Benches

Hummingbird benches were purchased with Block Watch Grant money and are available to Grandview neighbors. Due to the stipulations of the grant, the benches must be in front yards.
If you have a Little Free Library on your property, maybe a bench next to it?

Lights

Additional lighting, including motion sensored lights around your house and yard, and on dog leashes and strollers are ways to prevent crime and stay safe. The Block Watch Grant allowed Grandview Neighborhood Association to purchase some lighting options. Email Grandview to inquire about lighting options available to you at no cost.

Front Yard Friday

Front Yard Fridays are hosted monthly by volunteer neighbors throughout the hood. This is an opportunity to open your yard, gather and meet neighbors. Through the Block Watch Grant, Grandview is able to provide water, ice, a cooler, chairs, tables, etc to support you in hosting.
